Consider approving Resolution No. 2018-60, appointing a shared member to serve on the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Board of Directors; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
Ms. Faye Moses Wilkins has given notice that she does not intend to reapply for the DART Board. A new applicant Lissa Smith has requested to represent the City of Farmers Branch for DART Board of Directors 2018 to 2020. Members of DART’s Board of Directors serve staggered two-year terms pursuant to Section 452.578 of the Texas Transportation Code.
Ms. Smith has served on the Plano City Council from 2009 to 2017. Her professional experience includes working as the district of Texas State Senator Florence Shapiro. The City of Plano has proposed to appoint Lissa Smith to serve on the DART Board of Directors.
Ms. Smith is unable to attend the June 19, 2018 City Council meeting, but has agreed to provide the City Council with her contact information, and is willing to meet one on one to discuss her appointment, once she arrives back in town.
POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:
1. I move to approve Resolution No. 2018-60; to appoint Lissa Smith to DART’s Board of Directors for a term expiring June 30, 2018.
2. I move to approve Resolution No. 2018-60, with modifications.
3. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
