BACKGROUND:
The Sustainability Committee meets on a monthly basis. The Committee provides a quarterly update to City Council regarding the Committee’s activities and makes policy recommendations for Council’s consideration.
The Committee will present their activities since the last update. In addition, the Committee will make recommendations regarding the following items:
1. Water conservation kits
2. Solid waste ordinance change requiring dumpster lids to be closed.
3. Solid waste ordinance change that enables Code Enforcement to issue citations expediently
4. Service change for garbage storage and collection from bags to rollout carts
5. Service change for garbage, recycling, and brush and bulky collection to occur on the same service day
6. Requiring all new construction with a value of $10,000 or more to have a recycling container
7. Begin textile recycling with Simple Recycling
