BACKGROUND:

On May 10th 2018 Wayne Michaels was playing tennis at Brookhaven Country Club. During his match he began feeling fatigued and stated he needed to sit and rest. On his way to the bench, he died.

Sherrie DeFraites, an RN, was playing tennis on an adjacent court and noticed that Wayne had collapsed. After treatment at Medical City, Mr. Wayne Michaels has fully recovered since suffering a cardiac arrest on the Brookhaven Country Club tennis court.

There is no doubt that without the quick and selfless action of Sherrie and Chris DeFraites, Debbie Pileggi, and Julie and Kurt Hofmeister, Mr. Wayne Michaels would have had a much different outcome that evening. They worked as a team to save a life, truly exemplifying what it means to live and play in Farmers Branch. Therefore, it is my pleasure to recognize ...
