Consider adopting Ordinance No. 3509 amending Code of Ordinances Section 2-236 regarding the composition of the Planning and Zoning Commission; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
The current Planning and Zoning Commission is composed of (9) nine regular members each serving a three-year staggered term. During the Boards and Commissions interview process Council expressed interest in reducing this number to (7) prior to the next years’ appointment process. Recently there has been resignation bringing the current seated number of Commissioners to (8) eight.
DISCUSSION:
The City Council will discuss the option to reduce the number of Planning and Zoning Commission members from (9) nine to eight (8) members.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving Ordinance No. 3509, to amend the Planning and Zoning Commission composition and appoint member(s) accordingly.

1. I move to approve Ordinance No. 3509, as presented.
2. I move to approve Ordinance No. 3509, with modifications.
3. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
