Consider approving Resolution No. 2018-072 authorizing a unit price contract for Type “D” Asphalt with Austin Bridge & Road, L.P.; authorizing renewals of said contract; providing for an effective date; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department requests bids for the supply of Type “D” asphalt on a semi-annual basis. The purchase is based on a unit price. The City will pick-up a certain quantity of asphalt, per cubic yard, as needed for street maintenance, curbs, gutters and sidewalk repairs throughout the City.
DISCUSSION:
Requests for bids for the Type “D” asphalt were mailed to the two available vendors. One bid was received and it meets specifications. Austin Bridge & Road, L.P. provided a unit price bid amount of $53.25 per ton. Bids are based on estimated quantities since the amount of materials ordered fluctuates each year. Purchases will be made on a unit price basis using approved available funds within the 2017-2018 operating budget, which totals $54,000.
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Administration recommends adopting Resolution No. 2018-072 awarding the bid for unit price purchase of 2017-2018 supply of Type “D” asphalt to Austin Bridge & Road, L.P., with an option for renewals of contracts.
POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:
1. I move to approve Resolution No. 2018-072 authorizing a unit price contract for the purchase of Type “D: asphalt with Austin Bridge & Road, L.P., with an option for renewals of contracts.
2. I move to approve Resolution No. 2018-072 authorizing a unit price contract for the purchase of Type “D: asphalt with Austin Bridge & Road, L.P., with an option for renewals of contracts, with modifications.
3. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
