Consider approving Resolution No. 2018-69 awarding a contract for the Dennis Lane Water Main Replacement Project to Atkins Brothers Equipment Company, Inc. and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
Dennis Lane is scheduled for street improvements under Phase Two of the Street Bond Program, however the water line within Dennis Lane, from Josey Lane to Valwood Parkway, is over 36 years old and has experienced numerous water line breaks. Therefore, the water line in Dennis Lane needs to be replaced prior to the street improvement work commencing. The water line replacement project will initially be funded through the street bond program but will be reimbursed through the Capital Improvement Program Non-Bond Utility Fund.
DISCUSSION:
On July 19, 2018 City opened bids for the Dennis Lane Watermain Replacement Project. Eight (8) bids were received and Atkins Brothers Equipment Company, Inc. submitted the lowest qualified bid in the amount of $250,485.10 and have provided adequate references for similar projects.
This item is consistent with Core Value No. 5 providing functional, sustainable, and well-maintained infrastructure, facilities and equipment.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving Resolution No. 2018-69 awarding the bid and authorizing a contract with Atkins Brothers Equipment Company, Inc. for the Dennis Lane Watermain Replacement Project in the amount of $250,485.10.

1. I move to approve Resolution No. 2018-069 awarding a contract for the Dennis Lane Watermain Replacement Project to Atkins Brothers Equipment Company, Inc.
2. I move to approve Resolution No. 2018-069 awarding a contract for the Dennis Lane Watermain Replacement Project to Atkins Brothers Equipment Company, Inc., with modifications.
3. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
