Consider approving Resolution No. 2018-071 authorizing the City Manager to approve the purchase of a replacement generator for City Hall in the total amount of $56,124 from Loftin Equipment Company through the HGAC Contract; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:

 

The FY2017-18 Fixed Asset Fund for vehicle/equipment replacement includes the replacement of the City Hall generator.  The generator is 29 years old, which meets the recommended generator replacement criteria to ensure future generator reliability during outages and supports the Infrastructure and Assets Guiding Principle.

DISCUSSION:

 

The City of Farmers Branch requested a quotation from the HGAC Contract.  City Administration evaluated the quotation as to meeting specifications and desire to award the purchase of the replacement generator to Loftin Equipment Company. 

The FY2017-18 budget amount for the replacement generator is $100,000.  The remaining $43,876 will be used to pour a new concrete pad and for a contractor to remove the old generator and install the new generator. 

RECOMMENDATION:

 

City Administration recommends to approve the purchase of a replacement generator for City Hall from Loftin Equipment Company through the HGAC Contract budgeted in the FY2017-18 Budget.

POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:

 

1. I move to approve Resolution 2017-71 authorizing the City Manager to approve the purchase of a replacement generator for City Hall in the total amount of $56,124.

 

2. I move to approve Resolution 2017-71 authorizing the City Manager to approve the purchase of a replacement generator for City Hall in the total amount of $56,124, with modifications.

 

3. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
