Consider adopting Ordinance No. 3543 amending the City of Farmers Branch Code of Ordinances, Chapter 82, Traffic and Vehicles, Article II, Division 6, Section 82-95, amending No Parking Zones on portions of Simonton Road and Enterprise Drive; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
The property owner of 3404 Belt Line Road located at the southeast corner of Enterprise Drive has requested a no parking zone along Enterprise Drive to include his vacant lot south of 3404 Belt Line Road. There have been large commercial vehicles (tractor trailers) that have parked for extended periods of time. At times, this can hamper deliveries from entering and exiting his business.
Businesses along Simonton Road have reported to the City that large tracker trailers are parking for extended periods of time hampering the ingress and egress to their facilities along the south side of Simonton. Currently there is no parking on Simonton Road from Welch Road to 186 feet east. Staff recommends extending the no parking zone to 1950 feet east of Welch to resolve vehicles obstructing approaches along the south side of Simonton Road. The proposed no parking zone would extend the limits of the commercial businesses and end just prior to the apartments on the south side of Simonton.
DISCUSSION:
Staff has observed on several occasions vehicles and tractor trailers parked along the east side of Enterprise Drive for several days. Staff is recommending the no parking zones along east side of Enterprise Drive from Belt Line Road to 650 feet south. Staff finds in the interest and safety of movement of traffic along Simonton Road (south side) east bound traffic and extend the no parking on Simonton Road from Welch to 1950 feet east.
