Consider approving Resolution No. 2018-116 authorizing the City Manager to approve the purchase of four replacement patrol vehicles for Police Department in the total amount of $133,520 from Reliable Chevrolet through the Tarrant County Contract; and take appropriate action.  

 

Body

BACKGROUND:

The FY2018-19 Fixed Asset Fund for vehicle/equipment replacement includes four replacement patrol vehicles for the Police Department.  The vehicles being replaced meets the recommended replacement criteria based on life cycle costs, age, and utilization and supports the Infrastructure and Assets Guiding Principle.

 

DISCUSSION:

The City of Farmers Branch requested a quotation from the Tarrant County Contract.  City Administration evaluated the quotation as to meeting specifications and desire to award the purchase of the replacement equipment to Reliable Chevrolet. 

The FY2018-19 budget amount for the patrol vehicles is $216,000.  The quotation came in $82,480 under the anticipated budgeted amount, which will be used to outfit the patrol vehicles with emergency lighting and equipment as necessary.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Budgeted Financial Impact of $133,520 from account 103-4532-621.48-60

 

RECOMMENDATION:

City Administration recommends approve the purchase of four replacement patrol vehicles from Reliable Chevrolet through the Tarrant County Contract budgeted in the FY2018-19 Budget.

 

POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:

1. I move to approve Resolution 2018-116 authorizing the City Manager to approve the purchase of four replacement patrol vehicles in the total amount of $133,520.

2. I move to approve Resolution 2018-116 authorizing the City Manager to approve the purchase of four replacement patrol vehicles in the total amount of $133,520, with modifications.

3. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
