Presentation honoring Wes Caperton for 27 years of dedicated service to City of Farmers Branch

Body

BACKGROUND:

Today, we are recognizing the accomplishments of a long-term City employee, Mr. Wes Caperton, who will be officially retiring from the City of Farmers Branch on December 24th.

Originally, Wes was hired by the City of Farmers Branch in October of 1980 as a Building Inspector, for the Community Services Department.  Wes also assisted with Plan Review, and served as the department’s liaison to the Zoning Board of Adjustment and the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Wes left the City of Farmers Branch, briefly in 1983, to pursue an opportunity in the private sector.  He returned to the public sector when he was hired by the City of Carrollton as their Zoning Official in 1985.  He continued his employment with Carrollton until 1991, when he then returned to Farmers Branch, as a Code Enforcement Officer.  The Code Enforcement Division was in its infancy at that time, and Wes played a big role in its continued growth and development.  In 1992, Wes as asked to serve as Board Member of the newly created Code Enforcement Association of Texas.  Wes served as the Board Secretary in 1992 and 3rd Vice President from 1993-94.  As Chairman of the Association, Wes had a hand in the development of the licensing requirement for Code Enforcement Officers in the State of Texas, and served as an instructor for the Texas A&M Agricultural Extension Service, where he taught the Basic Code Enforcement course.

Wes has continued to serve the City of Farmers Branch as a Code Enforcement Officer for a total of 27 years, and overall, has committed a total of 36 years in public service.  Please help me in congratulating Wes Caperton in his new retirement journey.
