BACKGROUND:

Tom Bryson is a native of New Orleans and a proud graduate of Louisiana State University where he earned his degree in journalism. After six years of experience as a newspaper reporter, he came in from the dark side on January 2, 1990 when he began his career as a municipal government communicator with the City of Duncanville.

On January 4, 1999, he began work for the City of Farmers Branch as Director of Communications and has never looked back.  During the past 20 years under his direction, the Communications Office has been the recipient of more than 55 regional, state and national recognitions. Tom currently serves as national president of the City-County Communications and Marketing Association where he was named Communicator of the Year in 2016. He is a past-president of the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers and has served on the TML Legislative Advisory Committee.

Additionally, Tom is a founding member of the Advisory Board for the Certified Public Communicator program at Texas Christian University where he also serves on the faculty.  Thirty years ago this March, he married his wife, Mechelle.  Tom and his wife are proud parents of their son, Taylor, a graduating senior at Centenary College of Louisiana. In their spare time, Tom & Mechelle enjoy traveling, watching an unhealthy amount of television and traveling.
