BACKGROUND:

Ed Toliver began his career with the City of Farmers Branch on January 2, 1989 as Senior Center Supervisor and was promoted to Senior Center Manager on October 1, 2011. When Ed joined the team the senior program was run out of the Senior Adult Activity Center/Community Building which was located where the Margaret Young Natatorium is now. Space was limited as was programming. Under Ed's guidance programming for seniors grew and grew. It was at this location that the very popular Monday night dances began with music provided by a record player. The Monday night dance program has continued to be one of the Center's most popular and Ed is the staff member who has been the most involved with that tremendous program.
The new Senior Center, now The Branch Connection, was opened in 2000. Ed's knowledge of programming for, and needs of, seniors was key to designing this facility. He helped make sure the center could accommodate a wide variety of needs including socialization, recreation, and fitness.
Ed has a tremendous heart for what he does and it shows with the care and quality of everything he does. Ed is involved with all programming at the Branch Connection and volunteers at numerous other events including Fishin' Fun. Under Ed's guidance programming has grown year after year and now includes such things as strength training, yoga, defensive driving, meditation, arts and crafts, photography, bridge, line dancing, ping pong, dominoes and the list goes on and on. The variety of programming offered under Ed's guidance is quite amazing. Finally, with Ed and his team working with the Senior Advisory Board the annual Game Night has grown to one the most anticipated events held at the Center.
