Discuss and review Boards and Commissions

BACKGROUND:

The City Council has requested an agenda item to review and discuss the current Boards and Commissions structure.

 

Currently there are 9 resident-based boards with terms ranging from 2-4 years, some with a limit of 6 years of consecutive service, and diversely composed by regular members, alternates, and emeritus appointments. The staggered terms are designated to expire in June; therefore, an appointment process is in place managed by the City Secretary’s Office to collect applications, interview candidates, and allow Council to make a selection. Once a motion to appoint has been completed an Orientation has been implemented in order to facilitate compliance with State and City required trainings.
