Receive an update on the responses to the RFQ for a new Farmers Branch Library

BACKGROUND:
At the December 11, 2018 City Council meeting, Council was provided with an initial update on the progress that has been made with engaging the public about a new Library. An RFQ was released on December 13, 2018; the RFQ was also sent directly to 12 architects/firms. The RFQ had an extended deadline of January 25, 2019 which included a section for the architects/firms to provide example visuals of their ideas for a new Farmers Branch Library.
DISCUSSION:
Council will have an opportunity to review selected responses to the RFQ and the possibilities for a new Farmers Branch Library. The responses to the RFQ are the next step in the community engagement process and provide a powerful set of visualization tools to continue the conversation about a new Library.
In addition to discussing the responses to the RFQ, staff will seek direction on when to conduct the bond election. A May bond election would need to be called at the February 5 Council meeting unless a special meeting is called prior to February 15.
