Review 2020 Critical Business Outcomes

Body

BACKGROUND:

At the Strategic Planning Session on February 20, 2019, City Council reviewed the current critical business outcomes (CBOs) for FY19 to identify which CBOs are being accomplished, CBOs where there is still work to be done, and new CBOs that need to be focused on for FY20. A CBO is a short-term, one to three year, priority. For FY19, the City identified and focused on achieving seven critical business outcomes:

FY19 Critical Business Outcomes

CBO1 - Implement a vision for the central corridor and encourage redevelopment of the East Side.

Discussion - Keep this CBO in FY20.

CBO2 - Improve options for quality, senior-centric housing.

Discussion - Keep this CBO in FY20.

CB03 - Enhance our entryways.

Discussion - Considered complete with the entryway monuments project. A new CBO focusing on our streetscapes has been identified.

CBO4 - Identify solutions for homes in the flood plain.

Discussion - With two grants addressing floodplain mitigation applied for, this CBO is being refined to focus on creeks.

CBO5 - Implement data-driven processes for making resource allocation decisions.

Discussion - Keep this CBO in FY20.

CBO6 - Develop a solution for creating a dog park.

Discussion - Considered complete with the dog park scheduled to open this summer.

CB07 - Continue to deliver exceptional service to our residents, businesses, and other stakeholders.

Discussion - Keep this CBO in FY20.

DISCUSSION:

Council will have the opportunity to review the CBOs identified at the Strategic Planning Session and decide on a final list of CBOs for FY20. Once Council provides a final list of CBOs, staff will develop strategic initiatives as part of the budget process. Council’s approval of the budget and strategic plan for FY20 will provide the pathway for the CBOs to be completed.

CBOs from FY19 considered a continued priority into FY20:

CBO1 - Implement a vision for the central corridor and encourage redevelopment of the East Side.

CBO2 - Improve options for quality, senior-centric housing.

CBO3 - Utilize data-driven processes for making resource allocation decisions.

CBO4 - Deliver exceptional service to our residents, businesses, and other stakeholders.

CBOs from FY19 expanded/refined for FY20:

                     CBO5 - Enhance our streetscape.

CBO6 - Implement a solution for improving creeks.

CBO7 - Plan for, build, and maintain high quality public assets.

CBO8 - Support the Station Area development.

CBO9 - Develop a mechanism to end child homelessness.

CBO10 - Identify a pathway for sustainability initiatives.
