BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department requests bids for the 2018-2019 Large Meter Replacement Project on an annual basis. Any meter that is three inches in diameter or greater is considered a large meter. Large meters are generally located at commercial properties which are large volume water users. Replacing large meters is necessary to curtail unmetered water loss and maintain revenue from water sales. The meters are prioritized for replacement based on a 2013 testing report which factors in age, water usage, meters ones without a bypass.
DISCUSSION:
The proposed bid for the 2018-2019 Large Water Meter Replacement Program included replacing meters, bypass valves, vaults and all parts necessary at two main locations, plus four add-alternate locations.
The Public Works Department requested bids for the annual 2018-2019 Large Meter Replacement Project. On March 27, 2019 two bids were received and opened. DFW Services, LLC submitted the lowest base bid for two main locations in the amount of $24,000. The City chose two of the four add-alternate locations totaling $74,000. Total bid price is $98,000. DFW Services, LLC has met all qualifications and has performed similar work for the City.

RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving Resolution No. 2019-044 authorizing a contract with DFW Services LLC for 2018-2019 Large Water Meter Replacement Project in an amount of $98,000.
