BACKGROUND:
The 2018-2019 Capital Improvement Program Street Bond Fund provides funding for the rehabilitation of water lines and sanitary sewer lines. The water and sewer mains in Epps Field Road will be replaced from 500 feet west of Tom Field Road to Leta Mae Lane, the water main in Danny Lane from Ford Road to Tom Field Road, and the water main in Leta Mae Lane from Ford Road to Tom Field Road will be replaced. The water and sewer mains scheduled to be replaced are 50-63 years old and in poor condition.

DISCUSSION:
On April 17, 2019, eight (8) bids were received and opened for the 2018-2019 Utility Replacement Project. All bids met specifications. The low bidder is A&M Construction and Utilities, Inc. with a bid in the amount of $614,171. A&M Construction and Utilities, Inc. has performed similar projects for the City of Farmers Branch in the past and has provided adequate references. The contract time is 180 calendar days.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Budgeted Financial Impact ($700,000 budgeted in the Street Bond Fund)

RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends the approval of Resolution No. 2019-054 awarding the bid and authorizing a contract with A&M Construction and Utilities, Inc. for the 2018-2019 Utility Replacement Project in the amount of $614,171.
