Consider accepting a donation for The Branch Connection from the Farmers Branch Woman’s Club and take appropriate action

BACKGROUND:
At its annual meeting on May 3, 2019 the Farmers Branch Woman’s club announced a donation of $2,000 to The Branch Connection. The Branch Connection will use the donation to purchase new equipment and supplies for the kitchen, add additional evening programing and provide scholarships for residents who are unable to purchase a membership on their own.
DISCUSSION:
The very generous donation demonstrates the Farmers Branch Woman’s Club support for City programs in general and specifically support of The Branch Connection. The Farmers Branch Woman’s Club is an important and long-standing partner with the City. Farmers Branch Woman’s Club Vice-President Melissa Barry is in attendance at tonight’s meeting to present the $2,000 check to the City.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends accepting the $2,000 donation from the Farmers Branch Woman’s Club for The Branch Connection.
POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:
1. I move to accept a donation of $2,000 from the Farmers Branch Woman’s Club, and amend the 2018-2019 budget as required.
2. I move to accept a donation of $2,000 from the Farmers Branch Woman’s Club, and amend the 2018-2019 budget as required, with modifications.
3. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
