Presentation of the Manske Library Bookmark Contest Winners

BACKGROUND:
The First Annual Bookmark Contest at Farmers Branch Manske Library contest was open to anyone interested in participating during the month of March. The Library received 67 submissions and reviewed in 4 different age-categories. To coincide with ALA’s National Library Week in April, our local Farmers Branch Public Art and Culture Committee were invited to judge the entries based on various criteria around the Love of Libraries and Reading. The 67 bookmarks were also prominently displayed at the library entrance, allowing the public to vote on their overall favorite.
The winners all received a customized TShirt showcasing their champion bookmarks, AND the winning bookmarks are now freely available to the public at the Library.
Before honoring the winners tonight, we do want to recognize that ALL the talented participants did an outstanding job in their submissions.
The Award Victors of the 2019 Bookmark Contest are:
• Under 7 Age Group - Jordie Doucet
• 8 to 12 Age Group - Zayna Yusuf
• 13 to 17 Age Group - Lauren Donovan
• Adult Group - Carol Dingman
• Public Vote (from the Adult Group) - Lydia Yost
