BACKGROUND:
Ordinance No. 2432 was adopted to prohibit parking on portions of Hutton Drive between Valley View Lane and Academy Lane, which at one time was a dead end street. With new development within that area, and Hutton Drive now extended to Wittington Drive as a four-lane roadway, this Ordinance is no longer necessary.
City Administration has received complaints regarding a commercial company located in the Town of Addison parking vehicles along East Beltwood Parkway from Town of Addison's city limit line south to North Beltwood Parkway. The Police Department and Public Works have evaluated this complaint and recommend that parking be prohibited along the west right-of-way of East Beltwood Parkway from its intersection with North Beltwood Parkway to its north city limit line.
DISCUSSION:
City Administration finds it in the public's interest and safety to install no parking signs along the west side of East Beltwood Parkway, north of its intersection with North Beltwood Parkway, to the City's north city limit line. This will provide greater sight distance for motorists traveling on East Beltwood Parkway.
City Administration requests that Ordinance No. 2432 be repealed in its entirety due new development extending Hutton Drive and Academy Drive to Wittington Drive, allowing for on-street parking.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends adopting Ordinance No. 3592 amending the City of Farmers Branch Code of Ordinances, Chapter 82, Traffic and Vehicles, Article II, Division 6, Section 82-95, amending No Parking Zones on portions of East Beltwood Parkway; and repealing Ordinance No. 2432 in its entirety.
