Consider adopting Ordinance No. 3612 amending Chapter 22, Article VII.5 of the Farmers Branch Code of Ordinances by adopting the 2018 edition of the International Fuel Gas Code with local amendments; and take appropriate action

BACKGROUND:
The City has been and is currently using the 2015 International Fuel Gas Code since January of 2016. Model construction codes such as the IFGC are updated and re-published on a three-year cycle. Staff is recommending updating to the most current edition, the 2018 International Fuel Gas Code. Some notable changes to the 2018 IFGC includes recognizing arc-resistant CSST (corrugated stainless steel tubing) products and now allowing the use of lighter Schedule 10 steel pipe . Currently, most of our neighboring municipalities have adopted and are enforcing the 2018 IFGC with the exception of the City of Coppell and the Town of Addison.

City Administration recommends adopting Ordinance No. 3612, as presented.
