Consider adopting Ordinance No. 3613 amending Chapter 22, Article V of the Farmers Branch Code of Ordinances by adopting the 2018 edition of the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code with local amendments; and take appropriate action

BACKGROUND:
The 2018 ISPSC is a new stand-alone code for 2018. The swimming pool and spa provisions were formerly part of the appendix of 2015 International Residential Code. The City has used the 2015 International Residential Code since January of 2016. Staff is recommending updating to the new edition of the 2018 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code. Some notable changes in the requirements are hot water storage tanks are required to be listed and labeled as well as new sections addressing solar thermal water heating systems. Currently, most of our neighboring municipalities have adopted and are enforcing the 2018 ISPSC with the exception of the City of Coppell and the Town of Addison.
