Consider approving Resolution No. 2019-170 awarding the bid for traffic signal cabinets to Paradigm Traffic Systems through the Local Government Cooperative (BuyBoard) Contract No.524-17; and take appropriate action

BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department is requesting to purchase six (6) TS2 Type 2 signal cabinets by utilizing the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) contract pricing. The purpose of this contract is to continue replacing signal cabinets, which have become obsolete.
DISCUSSION:
The City's signal system currently has seventeen signal cabinets which were installed between 1967 and 1979. Four of these cabinets will be replaced and two locations will be updated to comply with new standards set by the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (flashing yellow arrow) along the Luna Road corridor. Funds for the purchase of six signal cabinets were approved in the 2019-2020 Public Works Operating Budget.
This item is consistent with City's Guiding Principles relative to providing functional, sustainable, and well-maintained infrastructure, facilities and equipment.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Budgeted Financial Impact to the Street Division Operating Budget in the amount of $76,500 from fund account 101-4027-630-8030.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approval of Resolution No. 2019-170 awarding the purchase of six traffic signal cabinets to Paradigm Traffic Systems in the amount of $76,500.00 through the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) contract pricing.
