Consider approving Resolution No. 2019-179 authorizing negotiation and execution of a professional services agreement with O’Brien & Associates, Inc. for architectural services relating to the design and construction of an event center at the Farmers Branch Historical Park; and take appropriate action

BACKGROUND:
Direction was given at the City Council budget retreat on August 14, 2019 to find a more suitable architect to produce biddable documents for a barn style events center at the Farmers Branch Historical Park than the original firm selected. O’Brien & Associates has proposed a fee of $125,000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds have not been budgeted directly for this project but are available in Hotel/Motel Fund reserves.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is the recommendation of the Historical Preservation and Restoration Board to approve the contract and associated fees.
POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:
1. I move to approve Resolution No. 2019-179 and amend the budget accordingly.
2. I move to approve Resolution No. 2019-179, with modifications.
3. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
