Consider approving Resolution No. 2019-176 casting a vote for the Fourth Member of the Board of Directors of the Dallas Central Appraisal District and take appropriate action

 

Body

BACKGROUND:

The Property Tax Code, Section 6.03, requires that an election or appointment of members to the Board of Directors of an appraisal district be conducted in odd numbered years for two (2) year terms. 

 

The Property Tax Code specifies the qualifications for membership to the Board of Directors in Section 6.03 of the Code.  The qualifications are:

                     Must be a resident of the DCAD for at least two (2) years prior to the election.

                     May be an elected official of an agency represented by the DCAD.

                     Cannot be an employee of any agency represented by the DCAD.

 

The City of Farmers Branch has the right to cast vote by official resolution for one (1) candidate as the fourth member, to the Board of Directors. This board member represents suburban cities in Dallas County.  The proposed Resolution No. 2019-176 casts vote for Michael Hurtt to be reappointed to Board of Directors of the Dallas Central Appraisal District. Mr. Hurtt has served DCAD since 2009 and wishes to be reappointed.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

City Administration recommends approving Resolution No. 2019-176 casting vote for Michael Hurtt to serve again as candidate for the Board of Directors of the Dallas Central Appraisal District.

 

ACTIONS:

1)                     Motion to approve Resolution No. 2019-176 casting a vote for Michael Hurtt to serve as a candidate for the Board of Directors of the Dallas Central Appraisal District.

2)                     Motion to deny Resolution No. 2019-176 casting a vote for Michael Hurtt to serve as a candidate of the Board of Directors of the Dallas Central Appraisal District.

3)                     Motion to modify to meet the needs of the Council.

4)                     Motion to table the issue for further study or take no action.
