Title
Consider approving Resolution No. 2019-172 awarding the bid and authorizing the contract in the amount of $140,664 to Texas Yard Pro, Inc. for new Fire Station No. 2 landscaping; and take appropriate action

Body
BACKGROUND:
Included in the FY 2019-20 fixed asset account is a $193,100 budget to complete the Phase I landscaping for the new Fire Station No. 2 construction project.

At the March 19, 2019 City Council Session the Fire Chief briefed Council on the status of the Fire Station construction bids and the Value Engineering (VE) recommendations brought forth by Gallagher Construction management.

One of the VE recommendations was to divide the landscape project into the base landscape directly surrounding the Fire Station, Phase I (east of the dry creek bed) and Phase II (West of the dry creek bed). As the landscape portion of the project was not going to be started until late 4th Quarter of 2019, the funding for the Phase I & II portions of the project could be included in the FY 2019-20 budget process.

On April 2, 2019 the City Council approved the awarding the Fire Station No. 2 construction contracts. The contracts awarded did not include the landscape contract.

DISCUSSION:
The Fire Department FY 2019-20 capital budget included $493,000 to complete both Phase I & Phase II landscaping. The request detail was presented to Council at the August 14, 2019 Budget Retreat.

The adopted FY 2019-20 Fire Department budget was approved with $193,100 for the project's landscaping-allowing for the completion of Phase I landscape.

Gallagher Construction Management has worked with the project's initial landscape package low bidder on adjusting the scope of the project to meet the approved budget. Texas Yard Pro Inc. is the low bidder and is capable of meeting the scope of the amended Phase I Landscape Plan.
