BACKGROUND:
Mr. Ignacio Mejia and Mr. Farzine Hakimi, consultants with Kimley-Horn and Associates, will present preliminary conceptual intersection designs for the Valley View Lane and Valwood Parkway intersections at IH-35E; the task force will then discuss and provide feedback to them related to these conceptual designs. After receiving feedback related to the preliminary conceptual designs presented, three conceptual designs will be developed for each intersection based on the following:

A. Baseline Intersection Plus (Plus are enhancements paid for by the City)
a. Low cost aesthetic improvements
b. Improvements to have a noticeable visual impact
c. Pedestrian oriented design elements (e.g. low height safety walls to separate pedestrians from Valley View Lane and Valwood Parkway main travel lanes, landscaping, stamped concrete or pavers, crosswalk pavement markings, lighting, etc. or combination thereof)
B. Middle Option
a. Low cost aesthetic improvements
b. Pedestrian oriented design elements (e.g. low height safety walls to separate pedestrians from Valley View Lane and Valwood Parkway main travel lanes, landscaping, stamped concrete or pavers, crosswalk pavement markings, lighting, etc. or combination thereof)
c. Vertical signature statement monument feature(s)
C. Grandiose or Ultimate Option
a. Primary emphasis signature gateway feature spanning Valley View Lane, with complementary gateway feature at Valwood Parkway.
b. Complimentary pedestrian oriented design elements (e.g. low height safety walls to separate pedestrians from Valley View Lane and Valwood Parkway main travel lanes, landscaping, stamped concrete or pavers, crosswalk pavement markings, lighting, etc. or combination thereof)
