BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this agenda item is to discuss the feedback received from TxDOT regarding the proposed abutment wall panel graphics at Valley View Lane and Valwood Parkway, and introduce additional potential graphics for the task force’s consideration.
The TxDOT project manager has stated that TxDOT will likely not be able to support the task force’s preferred option 5 as presented at the May 5, 2020 task force meeting. This is due to the complexity of the graphic panels, and safety concerns surrounding the number of panels that would need to be attached to the abutment walls. Staff has developed alternatives to option 5 (Attachment 1) that contain the same lighting elements but fewer graphic panels being attached to the abutment walls for TxDOT’s consideration.
Any additional feedback received from TxDOT between the writing of this report and the task force meeting will be presented at the time of the meeting.
ACTIONS:
Discuss feedback received from TxDOT and provide direction related to the alternate abutment wall graphics presented.
