Consider Boards & Commissions appointments to the Animal Shelter Advisory Board, Historical Preservation & Restoration Board, Municipal Drainage System Advisory Committee, Senior Advisory Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment; and take appropriate action

BACKGROUND:
The City Secretary’s Office accepts applications from citizens wishing to serve on a Board or Commission. Once a background check has been completed, submitted applications are kept on file for one year. As vacancies arise, City Council members may make appointments to fill any open positions(s) on a Board or Commission.
DISCUSSION:
The following vacancies with unexpired terms exist:
1. Animal Shelter Advisory Committee - Place 7 expires 6/30/2021
2. Historical Preservation & Restoration Board - Place 4 expires 6/30/2022
3. Historical Preservation & Restoration Board - Alternate 2 expires 6/30/2022
4. Municipal Drainage System Advisory Committee - Place 2 (Business Rep) expires 6/30/2021
5. Senior Advisory Board - Place 2 expires 6/30/2021
6. Zoning Board of Adjustments - Alternate 1 expires 6/30/2022
Online applications have been accepted since mid-July through September 8th. A total of 16 applications have been received. All appointments are contingent upon passing a background check and in good standing accounts with Finance Department. At this time some background checks and account confirmations are pending.
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Secretary’s Office recommends the following ascension of current alternate members:
1. Animal Shelter Advisory Committee:
a. Place 7 Jennifer Garcia currently Alternate 1
b. Alternate 1 Jennifer Robinson currently Alternate 2
c. Alternate 2 To be determined by City Council - expires 6/30/2021
2. Historical Preservation & Restoration Board:
a. Place 4 Melissa Dours currently Alternate 1
b. Alternate 1 To be determined by City Council - expires 6/30/2021
c. Alternate 2 To be determined by City Council - expires 6/30/2022
3. Senior Advisory Board:
a. Place 2 Lynne Dray currently Alternate 1
b. Alternate 1 Joyce Benoit currently Alternate 2
c. Alternate 2 To be determined by City Council - expires 6/30/2022
4. Municipal Drainage System Advisory Committee:
a. Place 2 Michael Gardner Representing the Business Community
5. Zoning Board of Adjustment:
a. Alternate 1 Jake Gigl currently Alternate 2
b. Alternate 2 To be determined by City Council - expires 6/30/2021
City Council may consider the recommendation as presented or modify as necessary and select from the list of applicants to fill any vacancy.

1. I move to approve the recommended appointments as presented and appoint the following applicants to:
