Title

Receive an update from the Code Enforcement Task Force

Body

BACKGROUND:

On January 5, 2021 the City Council supported Mayor Dye’s formation of the Code Enforcement Task Force for the purposes of reviewing a number of the City’s existing property maintenance regulations, providing feedback on those codes and offering recommendations to the City Council and Staff.

Each Councilmember selected two members of the Task Force to act as representatives on behalf of their district.

Mr. Bronson Blackson was selected as the Code Enforcement Task Force Chairman.

City Councilman John Norwood was the Task Force Council Liaison.

The Task Force Facilitator was Leo Bonanno, Code Enforcement Manager.

DISCUSSION:

The City Council will have the opportunity to question the Code Enforcement Manager on feedback and recommendations collected from the Task Force. The Council will also have the opportunity to request Staff’s feedback and recommendations before providing future direction on code updates.

Several Task Force members also plan to be in attendance.

RECOMMENDATION:

City Staff recommends proceeding with updates to Chapter 56 of the Code of Ordinances in accordance with direction received from the Council after today’s presentation.
