BACKGROUND:
On June 19, 2018 Freese and Nichols presented to Council during Study Session, a project prioritization list for Farmers Branch Creek that was established during the creek study. From this list, there were 24 projects identified requiring erosion repair work. Based on the need to make these repairs in order to stabilize the overall creek, City Council directed staff to move forward with the design and construction for the erosion repair projects based on a reach concept. Staff was to group projects within a given reach of the creek that affected multiple properties

The Reach 1 project consist of E-3, E-4, E-5 and E-6 from the priority list. The work includes approximately 133 lf of bag wall and 214 lf of modular block walls. The heights of the walls vary per location.

DISCUSSION:
One June 2, 2021, Public Works department received and opened nine (9) bids for the Farmers Branch Creek Erosion Repair Reach 1 project. The low bidder is Iron T Construction, Inc. with a bid in the amount of $700,000.30. The successful contractor has performed similar projects in the past and has provided adequate references. The proposed contract was prepared using estimated quantities and will be awarded on a unit price basis
This item is consistent with City's Guiding Principles relative to providing functional, sustainable, and well-maintained infrastructure, facilities and equipment.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Budgeted Financial Impact ($700,000.30 from the Stormwater CIP Fund)

RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends the approval of Resolution No. 2021-074 awarding the bid and authorizing a unit price contract with Iron T Construction, Inc. for construction of the Farmers Branch Creek Erosion Repair Reach 1 Project in the amount of $700,000.30.
