Consider adopting Ordinance No. 3691 amending the 2020 National Electrical Code with Amendments; and take appropriate action

BACKGROUND:
The National Electrical Code (NEC) is revised every 3 years to improve safeguards for people and property from hazards arising from the use of electricity.
The City intends to adopt the 2020 version of this code as it is the most recent version and has been adopted by the State as its electrical code.
Today, staff will present a brief presentation on the version intended to be adopted.
DISCUSSION:
Staff is available to answer any questions the Council may have after viewing today’s presentation.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City of Farmers Branch adopt the 2020 National Electrical Code.
POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:
1. I move to approve Ordinance 3691 adopting the 2020 National Electrical Code.
2. I move to approve Ordinance 3691 adopting the 2020 National Electrical Code with modifications.
3. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
