Review of Section 2-266 of the Code of Ordinances for the Senior Advisory Board.

BACKGROUND:

 

This agenda item is to review and discuss section 2-266 of the Senior Advisory Board Code of Ordinances and topics to include organization, meeting, rules of procedures, quorum, and vote.

 

The Code of Ordinances section 2-266 states:

 

(a)                     The regular members of the senior advisory board shall organize and select their own officers each year. The election of officers shall take place at the regular board meeting in September. Willingness of nominees to stand for election to a board office shall be confirmed before his name is placed in nomination. Only regular members are eligible to serve as officers of the board.

 

(b)                     The board shall hold regular monthly meetings except July and August and shall designate the time and place of such meetings. Board meetings may be held in July and August if deemed necessary. Board meetings shall be public in nature.

 

(c)                     The regular members of the board shall adopt rules of procedure for the conduct of the board's meetings and shall keep a record of its proceedings. A majority of the regular members of the board, inclusive of alternate members sitting as regular members, shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. The chair of the board shall only vote in case of a tie.
