BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department requests bids for the 2020-2021 Large Meter Replacement Project on an annual basis. Any meter that is three inches in diameter or greater is considered a large meter. Large meters are generally located at commercial properties which are large volume water users. Replacing large meters is necessary to curtail unmetered water loss and maintain revenue from water sales. The meters are prioritized for replacement based on a testing report which factors in age, water usage and repair parts availability.
DISCUSSION:
The proposed bid for the 2020-2021 Large Water Meter Replacement Program included replacing meters, bypass valves, vaults and all parts necessary at three main locations in the base bid, plus two add-alternate locations.
The Public Works Department requested bids for the annual 2020-2021 Large Meter Replacement Project. On June 28, 2021 three bids were received and opened. DFW Services, LLC. submitted the lowest base bid for in the amount of $140,000.00. The City chose to include add-alternate Item 5 for a total bid price of $200,000.00. DFW Services, LLC has met all qualifications.

Budgeted Financial Impact ($200,000 in the 2020-2021 Utility Operating Budget, Fixed Asset Account No. 5038086 647054)
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving Resolution No. 2021-076 authorizing a contract with DFW Services, LLC for 2020-2021 Large water Meter Replacement Project in an amount of $200,000.00.
POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:
1. I move to approve Resolution No. 2021-076.
2. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
