Receive an update on the purpose of the Sustainability Committee and rooftop solar projects

BACKGROUND:
On April 6, 2021, City Council approved Resolution No. 2021-042 to re-establish the Sustainability Committee. The Sustainability Committee will provide recommendations to City Council consistent with the Sustainability Plan.
On June 9, 2020, City Council adopted Ordinance No. 3640 amending the budget to provide funding for solar installations. The City entered a contract with Native Solar to install solar panels on three City buildings: Manske Library, Recreation Center, and Fire Station #2. All three installations became active in early 2021. The final cost of the solar installations was $267,265 under the budgeted amount.
DISCUSSION:
The presentation will provide an overview of the newly formed Sustainability Committee and its primary areas of focus. Staff will also provide an update on the new solar installations and present the plan for the use of remaining funds.
