Title

Discuss Montgomery Park Sand Volleyball project; and take appropriate action.

Body

BACKGROUND:

Staff developed a plan to create sand volleyball courts at the field located where Montgomery Elementary used to be. This court would only take up a portion of the field, still allowing for public usage and for league practice (if needed).

The popularity of sand volleyball has exploded over the last few years. It made the quickest transition from an emerging sport to a championship sport in NCAA history.

This has increased interest all around for this outdoor sport. There are multiple leagues for juniors and adults in the DFW area. Sand Volleyball is enjoyed by sports enthusiasts as well as families.

Potential cost of the project is $21,000, which includes all materials, development of the land, and installation.

To offset maintenance costs, potential revenue sources could include rentals, recreation leagues, and tournaments.
