Title
Consider approving Resolution No. 2022-004 awarding a contract to Fuquay, Inc., for 2022 Sanitary Sewer Improvements Project through the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative; and take appropriate action

Body
BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department negotiated a cooperative purchasing contract utilizing the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) contract pricing. The negotiated contract is for sanitary sewer main rehabilitation in various areas. The proposed contract was prepared using estimated quantities and will be awarded on a unit price basis.

The proposed contract includes pipe rehabilitation utilizing a pipe bursting method for approximately 10,900 linear feet existing 6 & 8-inch pipe, along with cleaning the sewer mains and rehabilitating manholes as needed. The pipe bursting method, rather than reconstructing, saves time, money and disruption to the adjacent properties. This method will be used from manhole to manhole and does not require any excavation of the existing sewer main. The age of the existing pipe ranges from 1957 to 1961 and the pipe material is clay tile. The new material will be eight-inch (8") PVC SDR19.

DISCUSSION:
The Public Works Department negotiated a discounted cooperative purchasing contract with Fuquay, Inc. for sanitary sewer main rehabilitation for $2,495,965.50. Fuquay has completed similar projects for the City.
