Consider approving Resolution No. 2022-008 appointing members to the Redistricting Commission; and take appropriate action

BACKGROUND:
The City Charter requires City Council to appoint a Redistricting Commission in January 2022, and every ten (10) years thereafter. The purpose of the Commission is to review Council District boundaries to maintain a substantial equality of population in each District. At the December 7, 2021 City Council Study Session meeting, the City Council agreed to appoint two (2) regular members and the Mayor will select the Chair. Alternates may be added, if necessary.
DISCUSSION:
The City Council provided the City Secretary with their list of District applicants. The City Secretary conducted background checks, and all applicants are eligible to serve.
