BACKGROUND:
The 2021-2022 Capital Improvement Program, Utility Replacement & Improvement provides funding for the rehabilitation of water lines and sanitary sewer lines. The water main scheduled to be replaced is approximately 8,920 LF of 6"- 12"-Inch cast iron pipe that was installed between 1958 and 1965. These pipes have experienced numerous breaks and are in poor condition. The proposed replacement pipe will be PVC. The water mains are located along Brookhollow Drive from Webb Chapel Road to Valley View Lane, Spur Trail from Webb Chapel Road to Brookhollow Drive, Rockmartin Drive from Dead end to Mitchwin Road, Templeton Trail from Valley View Lane to Cloverdalelane, and Chaparral Drive from Mitchwin Road to Rockmartin Drive.
DISCUSSION:
On April 28, 2022, 6 bids were received, opened, with all bids meeting specifications. The low bidder is SYB Construction Co., Inc. with a bid in the amount of $2,186,402.00. The successful contractor has performed similar projects for the City of Farmers Branch in the past and has provided adequate references. The contract time is 150 calendar days. The proposed contract was prepared using estimated quantities and will be awarded on a unit price basis.

RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends the approval of Resolution No. 2022-064 awarding the bid and authorizing a unit price contract with SYB Construction Co., Inc. for the Water Main Replacement Group A in the amount of $2,186,402.00.
POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:
1. I move to approve Resolution No. 2022-064.
2. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
