Consider approving Resolution No. 2022-092 to authorize the Interim City Manager to award a contract in the amount of $130,000 for the installation of synthetic turf to convert the Hockey Rink at Oran Good Park to a practice soccer field; and take appropriate action.

BACKGROUND:
The Hockey Rink at Oran Good Park was on the City-Wide Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan to repair in FY2021. Parks staff reviewed the repair and current usage of the space and determined that the community’s current use of the space was primarily as a practice soccer field. To better serve the community, staff would like to convert the asphalt hockey rink into a synthetic turf soccer field.
DISCUSSION:
City administration solicited competitive bids for installation of synthetic turf. The bid submitted by Hellas Construction, Inc. met the scope and specifications defined for the project.
Additionally, this field will be used exclusively for free play and will not be rented for team practices.
This item supports the City’s core value to provide attractive, unique, and connected spaces for community interaction.

Budgeted Financial Impact: 2021-2022 Project PK042002, Account 301-752010, total dollars $130,000.00.

POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:
1. I move to approve Resolution No. 2022-092 authorizing the Interim City Manager to award a contract for the installation of synthetic turf at the Hockey Rink at Oran Good Park and to negotiate and execute a contract on behalf of the City with Hellas Construction, Inc. in the amount of $130,000.00.
2. I move to table the issue for further study or take no action.
