Elect Mayor Pro Tem and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem; and take appropriate action

BACKGROUND:
Per Section 2.05 of the City’s Charter, the City Council elects annually from the Council Members, a Mayor Pro Tem and a Deputy Mayor Pro Tem who will perform the duties of Mayor in case of the absence or disability of the Mayor.
The Mayor Pro Tem and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem maintain voting rights on matters coming before the City Council when acting as Mayor.
DISCUSSION:
This item has been placed on the agenda to give City Council members the opportunity to elect a Mayor Pro Tem and a Deputy Mayor Pro Tem for a period of one year, May 2023 through May 2024.
RECOMMENDATION:
Separate motions should be made to nominate a Mayor Pro Tem and a Deputy Mayor Pro Tem.
POSSIBLE COUNCIL ACTION:
1. I make a motion to appoint _________ to serve as Mayor Pro Tem for a period of one year, May 2023 through May 2024.
2. I make a motion to appoint _________ to serve as Deputy Mayor Pro Tem for a period of one year, May 2023 through May 2024.
3. I make a motion to table this item or take no action.
