BACKGROUND:
Dutch Village Park Playground rehabilitation update
Project: Replacement of the fire-damaged playground at Dutch Village Park
Current Status: Staff is working with the City's Risk Manager and the City's insurance carrier on the incident. Staff will soon be disassembling the playground and keeping parts that can be reused. Staff will then start to prep the site for a new playground.
Estimated completion date: Fall 2024
John F. Burke Nature Preserve
Project: Enhancement of the nature preserve pathway and lookouts.
Current Status: Preserve is open. Staff continues to work with vendor on the septic system installation. The vendor is versed on how to work with TCEQ and Dallas County to expedite the allowed permitting. Opening restroom still TBD.
Estimated completion of restroom facility: Spring 2024.
Joya at Oran Good Park
Project: Build a one-of-a-kind signature park.
Current Status: Beginning April 1, 2024, Joya was no longer staffed Monday through Thursday. Parks staff is opening and closing the playground area on those days. Staff will be checking residency on high use days: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5pm-10pm. Staff will continue to publish updates on Joya operations to www.playathjoya.com and other City media resources. The restroom mural project is completed. Parks staff also continues to monitor the playground area for any wear or maintenance. Staff is communicating any issues or concerns to the installer and Kompan.
Venue 1842 (Event Center at Historical Park)
Project: Indoor venue to host weddings, rentals, corporate events, historical
programs, etc.
Current Status: Construction continues. Reservations are being taken. The first reservation for the public is May 4. Possible building dedication and soft opening is TBD.
Estimated completion date: Spring 2024
