BACKGROUND:
The Fiscal Year 2013-2014 Capital Improvement Program, Non-bond fund provides $112,527.68 for the reconstruction of the street and sidewalks of Wasina Drive between 2570 Wasina Drive and 2626 Wasina Drive. Within the project limits, existing street, sidewalks, and drive approaches will be removed and replaced. The revenues are from the Community Development Block Grant Program, a federal program administered through Dallas County. On July 16, 2013 the City Council approved the submission of this project to Dallas County for approval and funding under the grant program.
DISCUSSION:
On February 25, 2014, seven bids were received and opened for the Wasina Drive Reconstruction project, with all bids meeting specifications. The low bid was received from Overland Services, Inc. in the amount of $108,965. The contract time is sixty (60) calendar days. Overland Services, Inc. has submitted adequate qualifications and references, and has done similar work for other cities within the metroplex.
The portion of the remaining funds will be used for materials testing. Any funds remaining at the conclusion of the project will be requested, through Dallas County, to be reallocated for the future Community Development Block Grant projects in Farmers Branch.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Administration recommends approving Resolution No. 2014-016 awarding the bid for the Dallas County Community Development Block Grant project for the reconstruction of portions of Wasina Drive; authorizing a contract with Overland Services, Inc.
