Title

Consider approving Resolution No. 2015-119 authorizing a contract with DFW Services, LLC for large water meter replacement at various locations; and take appropriate action.

Body

BACKGROUND:

The Public Works Department requests bids for large meter replacement on an annual basis.  Any meter that is three inches in diameter or greater is considered a large meter.  The proposed contract includes replacing meters, bypass valves, vaults and all parts necessary at two locations plus one add-alternate location. Funds are available in the Utility Operations budget in the amount of $100,000.

Large meters are generally located at commercial properties and are large volume water users. Replacing large meters is necessary to curtail unmetered water loss and maintain revenue from water sales.

This item is consistent with Core Value No. 5 providing functional, sustainable, and well maintained infrastructure, facilities and equipment.

DISCUSSION:

The Public Works Department requested bids for large meter replacement.  Two bids were received and opened.  DFW Services, LLC submitted the lowest base bid in the amount of $66,000.00, with one add-alternate location in the amount of $30,000.00 will be added to the base bid for a total of $96,000.00

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended motion by City Administration to approve Resolution No. 2015-119 authorizing a contract with DFW Services, LLC for large water meter replacement at various locations.
